RANCHO CORDOVA / EASTERN SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. Riders heading to Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area this weekend should check the park’s special-event restrictions before loading motorcycles, ATVs or other off-highway vehicles. California State Parks says the 54th Lilliputian Hare Scramble is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, November 6–8, 2026.
Which parts of the park are closed?
According to the park’s current official notice, Zones 2, 3 and 4, along with the Pro-Am Track, are closed for competition during the event. Competitors will use Special Event Gate 4. Zone 1, the obstacle course, kids’ tracks and ATV track remain designated for public riding. Visitors should follow on-site signs and staff directions because access can change around race operations.
A second change: the motocross practice track
The park separately reports that its MX Practice Track has been under construction for an expansion project since Monday, November 2. Do not assume it is open simply because other areas are available. This construction notice is separate from the temporary race closures.
Hours, fees and how to confirm
Prairie City generally opens every day except Wednesday and lists a $5 day-use vehicle entrance fee. The park is about 20 miles east of downtown Sacramento and three miles south of US-50. The agency recommends checking for updates before traveling, especially when competitions take over riding zones.
For current access and event information, consult the official Prairie City SVRA page or call 916-985-7378. This advisory describes the posted schedule, not a live confirmation of every track’s condition at the moment of arrival.
